France’s national postal and banking company, La Poste, has been temporarily taken offline by a suspected distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack, the company confirmed. The attack disrupted online mail, banking services, the website, and the mobile app, though customers can still access services in person.
La Banque Postale, the company’s banking arm, reported that the cyberattack temporarily blocked access to its mobile and online banking platforms. While a Russian hacktivist group claimed responsibility, authorities have not confirmed who is behind the attack.
The incident adds to a series of recent cybersecurity threats in France, including a data breach at the Interior Ministry and malware found on a passenger ferry. It remains unclear if these attacks are connected.
