Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has officially joined the Accord Party, aligning politically with his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke.

Davido announced his decision on Tuesday via his verified X account, saying he would be in Osogbo, the state capital, on Wednesday to collect his party membership card. His move comes shortly after Governor Adeleke formally joined the Accord Party on December 9, 2025, citing leadership issues within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as a reason for his defection ahead of the 2026 Osun governorship election.

The singer’s political alignment with his uncle signals support for Adeleke’s re-election bid, following consultations with stakeholders and opinion leaders. Davido previously reacted to his uncle’s resignation from the PDP on social media with the caption: “Jeje…”
