Senegal fought back from a goal down to earn a 1-1 draw against DR Congo in Group D at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations on Saturday, December 27, at the Grand Stade de Tangier.
Cedric Bakambu put the Leopards ahead in the 61st minute after capitalising on a rebound from Senegal goalkeeper Edouard Mendy.
Senegal responded eight minutes later when substitute Ibrahim Mbaye broke through the DR Congo defence and tested goalkeeper Lionel Mpasi. Sadio Mane calmly finished the loose ball past Aaron Wan-Bissaka to secure the equaliser, marking his 10th goal at Afcon across 24 appearances.
The draw leaves Senegal top of Group D with four points, ahead of DR Congo on goal difference.
Benin sit third with three points, while Botswana remain bottom with zero. Both Senegal and DR Congo are in strong positions to advance to the last 16, with their final group fixtures set for Tuesday.
