Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi has confirmed he will contest Nigeria’s 2027 presidential election, making it clear that he has no interest in serving as a vice-presidential candidate.
Obi made the declaration during a live X Spaces discussion on Sunday night, attended by Okay News.
The former Anambra State governor said his years of experience in governance and business have prepared him for the top job, not a secondary role. Obi stressed that he did not invest time travelling and studying governance across the world only to end up as a vice president, insisting he knows how to fix Nigeria’s challenges.
Obi further assured supporters that his name will be on the ballot in 2027, calling for prayers and public support.
He maintained that his track record and experience surpass those of other contenders, including the current occupant of the presidency, as he positions himself for another shot at the nation’s highest office.
The latest development is coming amidst reports (not from Okay News) that the two-time Anambra State Governor is joining ADC.
