The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has launched a blistering attack on the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, accusing him of openly working against the party while still claiming PDP membership.
In a statement issued on Monday by Comrade Ini Ememobong, National Publicity Secretary of the party, the PDP said Wike’s public declaration as a supporter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) 2027 presidential candidate confirms the grounds for his expulsion over anti-party activities.
The PDP described Wike as a serial political provocateur whose career has been defined by internal crises and leadership conflicts within the party. The statement traced his role in past PDP leadership battles—from the Sheriff era to the removal of Uche Secondus and the agitation against Iyorchia Ayu—arguing that Wike consistently fuels division to advance personal political interests. The party also cited his actions in Rivers State, including candidate imposition and preventing a PDP presidential candidate from campaigning in the state, as clear departures from democratic norms.
The PDP further alleged that Wike and his allies have now openly aligned with the APC in a bid to undermine the opposition ahead of 2027.
While reaffirming confidence in its rebuilding efforts under the Kabiru Turaki-led National Working Committee, the party assured Nigerians that it will present a credible presidential candidate and remain united, insisting that no individual has the power to hijack or personalise the PDP.
