Ukraine has firmly denied Russia’s claim that it launched a drone attack on one of President Vladimir Putin’s residences, describing the allegation as false and a deliberate attempt to derail ongoing peace efforts.

President Volodymyr Zelensky dismissed the accusation as a familiar tactic by Russia to justify continued aggression against Ukraine.

Russia’s Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, alleged that Ukraine deployed 91 long-range drones overnight targeting Putin’s state residence in the Novgorod region, insisting all were intercepted by Russian air defences with no casualties or damage recorded.

Ukrainian officials, however, said no such attack occurred, noting that Russia has failed to present any credible evidence to support its claims.

Zelensky warned that the accusation could be a prelude to further Russian strikes on Kyiv, urging global leaders not to remain silent. He accused the Kremlin of seeking excuses to abandon ceasefire progress, stressing that Russia views any movement toward peace as a setback.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha echoed this position, calling on the international community to ignore what he described as baseless allegations, as diplomatic talks involving the United States and Ukraine continue amid lingering tensions over territorial control and security guarantees.
