Beanie Sigel was shot after an altercation outside a home in Pleasantville, New Jersey on Friday morning.
According to The Press of Atlantic City, the Philadelphia rapper was hit in the torso and transported to the hospital. Police confirmed the victim as Dwight Grant, which is Sigel’s real name.
A man was taken into custody after police chased a car that appeared to be related to the shooting.
Sigel, 40, was taken to the Trauma Unit at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City with a gunshot wound to the torso. He is undergoing surgery and his condition is currently unknown.
In August, Sigel was released to a Philadelphia halfway house after serving a two-year sentence in federal prison for tax evasion. He has been on home confinement since September 25.
