Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos state governor, on Wednesday, October 21, donated N50m each to the governors of Yobe, Adamawa and Borno state as part of the state government’s support towards the rebuilding of states affected by Boko Haram attacks.

According to Metrowatchonline, The Lagos state governor  presented cheques to the benefitting state governments at the briefing room of the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja after the Council of State meeting.

While speaking at the event Ambode said: ”The citizens of Lagos State and his government stand in solidarity with the states that have seen over five years of terrorism“.

He sympathized with the state governments as well as the families of those who had either lost a loved one or have been displaced from their homes.

He said: “We share in the pain and discomfort of our brothers and sisters. The situation is unacceptable, pathetic and desirous of our assistance. As a flagship state, Lagos must show leadership and compassion notwithstanding the harsh times in the country”.

Borno state governor, Kashim Shettima in his response on behalf of the states thanked Ambode for the gesture and promised to channel the money to people of the state who are great need of it.

He said: “On behalf of the governments of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe States, we register our profound gratitude for the empathy and support shown by the government and people of Lagos State under the leadership of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode in this our hours of need.”
