Folarin-and-his-parents-570x429

It may come as a surprise to many that Nigerian Rapper, Falz Thebahdguy, given name Folarin Falana, is a lawyer, and son of Femi Falana, SAN.

Born to a family where both parents are lawyers, and he himself a lawyer, you might ask why and how convenient it was for the family to let him slide in the way of Entertainment, especially Rap.

His father, Femi Falana, SAN, has revealed that he has allowed his children choose their path of desired career rather than have a set occupation imposed on them.

You might also be suppression that the comical rapper, with his knack for a rather ridiculous ‘pronunciations’ studied Law ‘in the Abroad’, yes, in England and has a quite good command of English when he’s not being funny.

His father explained that he was, as expected, surprised when ‘Falz’ approached him with the news that he was tired of practising the legal profession, he however revealed that his mother had a hard time supporting the idea.

According to Leadership, Femi Falana was quoted;  “Don’t force any course on your children; don’t insist that they must be doctors or lawyers. My son Folarin, who was working in our chambers, came to inform me one day that he wanted to leave. I said I could find him a place in one of my friends’ chambers. But he said no, ‘I’m going to be a musician’.

When I asked why, he convinced me but he couldn’t convince his mother because she’s also a lawyer. Today, he’s doing well as a musician and not as a lawyer. So let’s debate with our children to know what they want to do.”
