Nigeria’s Super Falcons have qualified for the 2016 African Women’s Cup of Nations after edging Senegal 2-0 at the National Stadium, Abuja, Tuesday evening.

The home win over Senegal ensured the Falcons book a place in the biennial event on a 3-1 aggregate victory following a 1-1 draw in the first leg.

Rita Chikwelu shot Nigeria into the lead after finishing off a lovely pass from Francesca Ordega, whipping a shot beyond Senegal goalkeeper Mariane Fall after Asisat Oshoala had missed a penalty in the opening stages.

Igbinovia Osarenoma’s strike sealed victory for the Florence Omagbemi-led side as Bassouare Diaby’s girls laboured in vain to make a contest of it.

Nigeria, nine-time African champions, join Egypt, Kenya, Equatorial Guinea, Zimbabwe and hosts Cameroon in the event billed for 19 November – 3 December in the cities of Yaounde and Limbe.

The remaining two teams will be decided in Tuesday’s contests featuring four teams.
