Andy Best, Iconic Nollywood Producer and Marketer, Is Dead

Renowned filmmaker Andy Ikechukwu, popularly known as Andy Best, is dead.

The sad news was confirmed by Seun Oloketuyi, a filmmaker and the Founder of Best of Nollywood, who announced the filmmaker’s passing via Instagram.

“Andy Best, a top Nollywood producer and marketer, is dead. He died in an Owerri hospital today,” wrote Oloketuyi on his Instagram page.

Andy Best, the Chief Executive Officer of Andy Best Production, was widely acclaimed for his contributions to Nollywood, particularly for his role in co-producing and marketing the iconic movie “Living in Bondage.”

His career spanned several decades, during which he produced and marketed numerous successful films, including “Lion of Africa,” “White Poison,” and “My Father’s Cup.”

Having ventured into film production in the 1980s, Andy Best’s creative vision and dedication to his craft propelled him to prominence within the industry.

His film “Ikuku” (1995), featuring legendary actor Pete Edochie, remains one of his most celebrated works.

Among his notable achievements was the commercial success of “Narrow Escape” (1999), which achieved remarkable sales of over 100,000 copies upon its release.

In his later years, Andy Best continued to contribute to Nollywood with projects like “Abuja Strippers,” a film released in December 2023.
