Aregbesola Accuses APC Of Silencing Opposition And Failing Nigerians

By Ogungbayi Feyisola Faesol

The National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rauf Aregbesola, has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of being intolerant of opposition voices and mismanaging the country.

Speaking on Saturday at the unveiling of the ADC Secretariat in Ilorin, Kwara State, Aregbesola said the APC government had brought hunger, insecurity, and infrastructural collapse through greed and poor governance.

He said governance under the ruling party had become a tool for personal gain and intimidation, adding that Nigerians were paying the price for failed leadership.

“The APC government has failed the people. Hunger has taken over the land, and the system is now about self-interest and oppression,” he stated.

Aregbesola accused the APC of using state power to suppress opposition, saying a truly confident party would not target or harass its rivals.

He described the ADC as a credible alternative for Nigerians ahead of the 2027 elections, adding that the ruling party’s growing unpopularity would benefit his party.

Former Kwara State Governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed, who also spoke at the event, said the unveiling of the new ADC office marked a new phase in the state’s political history.

“The ADC will give Kwarans a platform that truly represents their needs and values,” Ahmed said.

ADC National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had lost its relevance, insisting that the ADC now stood as the main opposition.

He also lamented growing insecurity in rural areas, calling on the government to act swiftly to restore peace.
