Arsenal Cancel Players’ Christmas Party Because of ‘Fourth Position’

By Gbolahan Adeyemi

Arsenal players have decided to cancel their annual fancy dress Christmas party on the advice of senior players Petr Cech and Laurent Koscielny.

This decision follows back-to-back Premier League defeats to Everton and Manchester City, which have left the Gunners nine points behind league leaders Chelsea.

Cech and Koscielny felt that Arsenal players being seen partying after this poor run of form could be taken badly by fans, with the pair advising against a celebration this year, according to the Daily Mirror.

Some Arsenal stars have still been out together for some more low-key events, but there won’t be a repeat of last year’s outing in fancy dress.

Arsene Wenger’s side will have the chance to put things right when they take on West Brom in their next game on Boxing Day, and Janury looks a fairly generous month in general in terms of fixtures.

Arsenal also have home games against the likes of Crystal Palace, Burnley and Watford, plus trips to Bournemouth and Swansea City.

And if their players haven’t been partying too hard around the festive period then they really have no excuse!
