Basketmouth Refuses to Respond to AY’s N30k Debt Claim

By Damilola A.

Comedian, Bright Okpocha, famously known as Basketmouth, has declined to comment on the claim by his colleague, Ayodeji Makun, popularly known as AY, that their feud was caused by an unpaid debt of N30,000.

In a recent interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, AY had alleged that Basketmouth endorsed him to stand in for one of his wedding gigs in 2006 but failed to pay him the agreed fee of N30,000, leaving him hungry for weeks.

However, Basketmouth has chosen to remain silent about the issue, even when pressed for his side of the story during a recent show.

Addressing the audience, Basketmouth made it clear that he had no intention of engaging in any public spat with AY over the matter. “I don’t want ‘him’ to hear from me,” he said, eliciting cheers from the crowd.

Explaining his reluctance to discuss the incident further, Basketmouth stated, “You all want to hear my side of the story. The thing is, to be honest, I would have loved to talk about that, trust me, I would love to talk about it; but the truth is, some people will record it and the thing would leak. Then, people would say that I have responded. Whereas, I no want make that guy ever hear me.”
