By Farouk Mohammed

Popular actor and pioneer of black American TV comedy, Bill Cosby, walks out of court a free man as judge declares sexual assault case a mistrial.

According to reports, the seven men and five women who sat for the case, were unable to reach a balanced decision, after over 50 hours of deliberations.

79-year-old Bill Cosby, was accused of drugging and sexually assaulting Andrea Constand in his home, in 2004. However, his lawyers argued that intimacy was consensual.

BBC reports that this only means that he could face new court proceedings.

But the legendary Hollywood star, walks away a free man for now, as they are already starting a fresh trial.

If Cosby was found guilty of the three counts charge of aggravated indecent sexual assault, he would have spent 10 years in prison.

Meanwhile, dozens of women have come out after the Constand’s allegation to say the TV star assaulted them, but statutes of limitation rules allowed only Constands case to stand trial.

BBC reports that announcing the decision, the Pennsylvania judge reminded Cosby that despite mistrial, he remains charged and on bail.
