President Muhammadu Buhari has asked the Senate to confirm Justice Tanko Muhammed as substantive Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN).

Okay.ng had on Wednesday reported that the National Judicial Council (NJC) recommended his appointment as CJN to Buhari for confirmation.

The President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, read the letter from Buhari at the plenary on Thursday.

The letter addressed to Mr Lawan, sought the cooperation of the Senate for the confirmation in line with Section 231 (1) of the 1999 Constitution as amended.
