Death Toll Rises to Eight in Kano Mosque Attack

An attack on a mosque in Gadan Village, Gezawa Local Government Area of Kano State, has claimed the lives of eight worshippers, with 17 others still receiving treatment for their injuries.

Okay.ng had reported that the incident occurred during the early morning Subhi prayer on Wednesday at around 5:20 am, when an explosion rocked the mosque, leaving a trail of destruction and chaos in its wake.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the death toll has risen to eight, with seven more victims succumbing to their injuries while receiving treatment at the Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital in Kano.

He added that an investigation into the attack is ongoing, to determine the motives behind the tragic incident.

The principal suspect, identified as 38-year-old Shafi’u Abubakar, has been arrested in connection with the attack.
