FAAN Replies Tiwa Savage Over Her Stolen Luggage Claims

By Farouk Mohammed

The Federal Airports Authority Of Nigeria (FAAN) has called Singer Tiwa Savage’s allegation that her luggage was stolen at the airport, untrue.

This comes hours after the singer took to her SnapChat to claim that her luggage was stolen at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, on her way from Uyo to Lagos.

FAAN stated that her claims were “baseless and practically impossible”.

The Federal Airports Authority through its spokesperson, Henrietta Yakubu, maintained in a statement, that it was impossible for anyone to burgle an aircraft in motion.

“Furthermore, because aircraft are highly technical machines, it is practically impossible for anyone who does not have the requisite training and competence to operate or tamper with the baggage compartment,” the statement read.

FAAN also addressed further claims that it was becoming a frequent occurrence following older claims that another jet from Istanbul Turkey was burgled. They insisted that in both insistance, preliminary findings and probes from investigations conducted could not substantiate the claims.

“The purported victims in the said cases also did not make themselves available for questioning, in the quest to unravel the case” the statement continued.

Although, the authority claim that investigation is still ongoing, they have reassured travelers and the general public that there is adequate security system operational at the airports, adding that “it is practically impossible for an aircraft to be burgled within our Runways and Aprons.”
