KATSINA, Nigeria – Suspected armed bandits abducted the former Director of Defence Information, Major General Rabe Abubakar, and his wife on Saturday, May 30, 2026, in Katsina State.
Okay News reports that attackers intercepted the retired senior military officer’s vehicle along the Matazu axis while the couple was traveling to Katsina.
The driver of their vehicle, a red Peugeot 504, managed to escape the attack after sustaining a gunshot injury. Security personnel recovered the vehicle and moved it to the Matazu Divisional Police Headquarters.
An informal security message circulated among military contacts by retired Brigadier General Sagir Musa confirmed the abduction of the officer and his wife. Neither the Katsina State Police Command nor the Nigerian Armed Forces have released an official statement regarding the incident.
