IGP Disu Orders Massive Deployment to Plateau After Deadly Jos Attack

By Adamu Abubakar Isa

ABUJA, Nigeria – The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has condemned the deadly attack in Angwan Rukuba, Jos, and ordered a large-scale deployment of security personnel to restore peace, Okay News reports.

The police chief expressed condolences to the Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, as well as victims’ families, describing the incident as tragic and unacceptable.

As part of the response, the IGP had earlier deployed the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Operations, Umar Shehu Nadada, to assess the situation and coordinate ongoing efforts. He has now further intensified operations with additional tactical teams, Police Mobile Force units, and intelligence operatives working alongside other security agencies to contain the situation.

The IGP stressed that operations would continue until normalcy is fully restored, directing commanders to ensure visible policing and actively engage with affected communities.

He also urged residents to remain calm and law-abiding, warning against taking the law into their own hands while encouraging citizens to report suspicious activities to support ongoing security operations.
