The political crisis in Ahiazu Mbaise chapter of All Progressives Congress heightened on Sunday as members of the party boycotted a meeting summoned by the Imo State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Chidi Ibe, and instead suspended him and some party chiefs.

The party leaders, who boycotted the meeting called by the commissioner, attended another meeting convened by a local government area party chairman, Mr. Ifeanyi Eke.

They told newsmen they shunned the meeting because the convener did not follow due process, which made the meeting illegal.

The enraged APC leaders resolved to discipline the commissioner by invoking the party’s constitution against him and other erring persons, including the Transition Committee Chairman of the local government area, Chief Cletus Onwuegbule.

A chieftain of the party, Nze Kevin Nwoko, stated that members of the party in the LGA would never have anything to do with the commissioner until he cleared himself of alleged indiscipline and disobedience to the constitution and to constituted party authorities in the area.

When contacted, the LGA transition committee chairman, Onwuegbule, dismissed the suspension, saying that he and the commissioner were rather concentrating on how to help Governor Rochas Okorocha to develop the state.
