Ini Edo Speaks Candidly About Being Single at 41

By Damilola A.

Nigerian actress Ini Edo has opened up about her single status, citing a desire for genuine love, commitment, and a toxic-free relationship as the reasons behind her decision to remain unmarried.

In an interview with media personality Toke Makinwa, the 41-year-old actress emphasized that she values authenticity in love and is not willing to settle for a relationship that lacks commitment and protection.

“I am single because I just want someone that will really love me, that is all! I am not asking for too much,” Ini Edo shared during the interview.

“You can love someone but you are not ready to be a committed person. I cannot be in a toxic relationship. If you cannot give me that protective energy that allows me to respect you, I cannot be with a man that I do not respect. If you cannot earn my respect, then we cannot be together because what is the point?”

The actress highlighted the importance of kindness and effective management of situations over a sole focus on financial status. Money, she emphasized, is not her primary concern, but rather she seeks a partner capable of navigating challenges with kindness.

“Even if you do not have, sometimes it is not even about having money, it is about just how you are able to love and manage the situation, manage the people around you, kindness! I think that is what is missing,” she explained.

Ini Edo, whose acting career kicked off in 2000, gained prominence in 2004 with her role in the Nollywood film ‘World Apart’.

Despite her success on the big screen, her personal life has been under the public eye, especially regarding her marriage to US-based businessman Philip Ehiagwina in 2008, which ended in divorce in 2014.
