Israeli forces have carried out air strikes, artillery, and drone attacks in Syria and Gaza after the extrajudicial killing of two unarmed Palestinians in the West Bank city of Jenin.
In Syria, at least 13 people, including women and children, were killed in Israeli artillery and missile strikes on the town of Beit Jinn, southwest of Damascus. The Syrian Foreign Ministry condemned the attacks as a “full-fledged war crime” and called on the UN and Arab League to intervene. Israeli authorities reported six soldiers injured during the clashes.
In Gaza, an Israeli drone strike killed one person in Bani Suheila near Khan Younis, while tank fire injured a Palestinian child in Rafah. Israel claims to have killed nine Hamas fighters trapped in underground tunnels in southern Gaza, bringing the total to 30. Negotiations are reportedly ongoing for the safe passage of the remaining fighters.
The attacks in the West Bank continue, with Israeli forces raiding multiple refugee camps, including Far’a and Askar, arresting residents, and demolishing buildings in Jenin refugee camp. United Nations data indicates over 1,600 Israeli settler attacks have occurred across the West Bank this year, injuring more than 1,000 Palestinians.
