Abuja, NIGERIA — The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the remand of popular social media personality and blogger, Chidiebere Mark, widely known as Justice Crack, in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS).
The ruling, delivered by Justice Joyce Abdulmalik on Monday, May 4, 2026, follows the influencer’s arraignment on a three-count charge primarily centered on alleged violations of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act.
The prosecution, led by Mark Orubo on behalf of the DSS, alleged that Chidiebere knowingly circulated false information via his X (formerly Twitter) handle, @JusticeCrack, regarding the welfare and feeding of Nigerian Army personnel. According to the charge sheet, Count One alleges a breach of Section 24(1)(b) of the Cybercrimes Act, citing intent to cause “ill-will and hatred” among the public. Count Two and Three involve allegations of publishing derogatory content likely to cause a breach of peace and attempting to commit a felony by inciting public unrest against the military.
Okay News reports that the defendant pleaded not guilty to all charges.
While the defense counsel, Marshall Abubakar, attempted an oral bail application, the court directed that a formal application be filed. The prosecution successfully argued for remand in DSS custody on “security grounds,” citing the sensitive nature of the case involving military morale. The court has now adjourned the matter until May 25, 2026, for the commencement of trial and the hearing of the bail application. Outside the courtroom, tension flared as a group of youths formed a human barricade to protest the influencer’s detention, chanting “Free Justice Crack” before security operatives eventually escorted the defendant away.
