Kcee Recalls Bringing Iyanya to Lagos, Buying First Flight Ticket

Renowned Nigerian singer Kingsley Okonkwo, popularly known as Kcee, has opened up about his pivotal role in supporting fellow artists Iyanya and Skibii, revealing how he nurtured their talents and aided their rise in the music industry.

In a candid revelation during a recent episode of the Afrobeats Podcast, Kcee shared insights into his behind-the-scenes contributions, disclosing that he played a significant role in bringing Iyanya to Lagos and providing him accommodation for six years.

“I brought Iyanya to Lagos, I bought his first flight ticket. He stayed with me for six years in Lagos. I don’t talk about it,” Kcee disclosed, highlighting his selfless support for his colleague’s budding career.

Additionally, Kcee recounted his instrumental role in discovering and fostering the talent of Skibii, emphasizing his keen eye for identifying promising artists and his unwavering commitment to their success.

“I also brought Skibii to the music industry. Skibii is grateful to me for that till today,” Kcee affirmed, underscoring his enduring bond with Skibii and their collaborative journey in the music scene.

Reflecting on his mentorship approach, Kcee expressed humility in his efforts, stating, “I am that guy that knows how to identify talent. When I see it, I know. And I would support.”

In response to the viral clip of Kcee’s interview, Iyanya expressed heartfelt gratitude, affirming Kcee’s pivotal role in his career journey.

“Yes, he [Kcee] did [accommodate me] and I’m forever grateful,” Iyanya acknowledged, acknowledging the profound impact of Kcee’s support.
