The 2016/2017 Academic session will commence in Lagos State public and private schools on September 19.

The Deputy Governor of Lagos  state, Dr. Idiat Oluranti Adebule, who made this known in her Eid el Kabir message  to stakeholders in education  sector said classes will start running  from the resumption date as there is no time to waste.

She lauded teachers in the state for their dedication to duty. This, she noted was manifest in the results of the various external examinations and competitions that the students participated in last session.

She praised the result of the 2015 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), which she described as a clear departure from the past.

Adebule urged both teaching and non-teaching staff of public schools to report at their duty posts promptly as officers of the Education Quality Assurance office have been directed to monitor strict compliance.

She warned that anyone found wanting would be punished.

Parents were urged to ensure that their children and wards resumed on the appointed date.
