Mavin Records Launches Second Edition of its Mentorship Program, Mavin Future Five

By Zuladine Ibrahim

Mavin Records, a renowned music label based in Nigeria, has announced the second edition of its innovative mentorship program, Mavin Future Five.

The program, aimed at mentoring young enthusiasts and students in the music industry between the ages of 18-25, has proven to be a huge success after its launch in 2021.

The first series of the program received over a thousand applications, with selected candidates undergoing a 6-month experiential internship, during which they worked on campaigns with the Mavin Records team and met with industry leaders across various facets of the entertainment industry.

Miracle Udoh, one of the beneficiaries of the program, said, “This has helped me assess myself in a new light and improve. I now challenge myself even more, I’m more outgoing, and even more prone to blurting out my ‘crazy’ ideas.”

The program aims to populate the professional end of the music business with the brightest minds and most competent hands. The Mavin Future Five consists of a quintet of some of the industry’s most impressionable minds. The areas of interest for the program include Artists Relations, Digital, New Business, Creative Marketing, and Promotions.

Label Founder and Afrobeats icon, Don Jazzy, expressed his excitement about the program’s continuation, stating, “It is great to see the impact of the first Mavin Future Five. As a label in its 11th year, this is one of the ways we can give back to the industry and sustain its growth. It is also a legacy for Mavin to have contributed more to the scene than just great musical talents.”

Tega Oghenejobo, the Chief Operating Officer of Mavin Records, also spoke about the importance of integrating new hands into the music business.

He said, “We can build the future by making sure we involve the younger ones now. That is why this program is especially important. We are giving these ones a headstart and securing the future from now.”

The program has also been lauded by Olabode Otolorin, a previous alumnus of the program who now works at the label as a Global Campaign Associate. Otolorin said, “Future Five was surely an eye-opening experience. The COO spent time helping to harness our strengths and transfer insights from working in the industry so far to us. Plus the avalanche of resources available in terms of experts at the label who are always ready to help also made the experience worthwhile.”

The Mavin Future Five is a fantastic opportunity for young enthusiasts and students to gain valuable experience and develop their skills in the music industry.
