Mexico’s Vanessa Ponce de Leon Crowned Miss World 2018

Vanessa Ponce de Leon has won the 2018 Miss World beauty pageant.

The 26-year-old model was crowned by the 2017 Miss World, Manushi Chhillar, at the 68th edition of the pageant in Sanya City Arena, China.

Vanessa became the first Miss Mexico to be crowned Miss World.

She has a degree in international business and sits on the board of directors of a rehab centre for girls.

Vanessa in her words after being crowned said;

“I can’t believe it, I really can’t believe it… And I think all the girls deserved it. I am proud to represent all of them. I will do as much as I can in the time I have got. Thank you so much, everyone,”.

20-year-old Miss Thailand, Nicolene Pichapa Limsnukan emerged as the first runner-up at the pageant while Miss Belarus Maria Vasilevich, Miss Jamaica Kadijah Robinson and Miss Uganda Quiin Abenakyo were among the final five.
