OWERRI, Nigeria, May 2026 — Celebrity businessman and nightlife promoter, Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has reacted to his defeat in the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the Orsu/Orlu/Oru East Federal Constituency seat in Imo State, southeastern Nigeria.
Cubana Chief Priest, who serves as the Imo State Coordinator of the City Boys Movement, secured 14 votes in the primary election and failed to clinch the party’s ticket for the House of Representatives race.
Okay News reports that the businessman became the subject of widespread reactions on social media following the outcome of the primary, with many users commenting on his defeat despite his visible support for Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Reacting in a video circulating online, Cubana Chief Priest said he did not regret contesting in the election but expressed disappointment over what he described as misplaced trust in community elders.
“I’m a hustler, and I didn’t regret trying to contest for a position. My only regret was trusting the elders in the community,” he said.
“I know how much I gave them, but only 14 people voted for me in the primary,” he added.
The businessman did not disclose whether he intends to remain active in the political process ahead of the general election.
The APC primary in the constituency forms part of ongoing political contests ahead of the next electoral cycle in Imo State and across Nigeria.
