Chelsea midfielder, Cesc Fabregas has tipped Brazil forward, Neymar to succeed Lionel Messi as the best player in the world, but insisted that the 24 year old’s reign will begin when the Argentine retires.

Both players spent one season together at the Camp Nou before the Spaniard made his way to the Stamford Bridge.

The Selecao starlet had some difficulties on and off the field during his debut season in Spain but Fabregas says he quickly realised that Neymar was the heir to Messi’s throne.

“Adaptation always takes time but you could already see the natural talent, his love for football and his amazing skills,” the Chelsea midfielder told Goal. “You could see that he would reach this level sooner or later.

“I think it will be difficult [for Neymar to reach Messi’s level] but when Leo retires from football in a few years, I think Neymar will be the one who reigns.”
