Nigeria Pledges Inclusive Education on Children’s Day

ABUJA, NigeriaNigeria’s Minister of Education, Maruf Alausa, pledged to provide inclusive and quality education for every Nigerian child during a meeting at the Federal Ministry of Education headquarters on Wednesday, May 27, 2026.

Okay News reports that Alausa hosted students from various schools alongside disability advocate and actress Dera Osadebe to mark the 2026 Children’s Day celebration.

A statement issued by the minister’s media aide, Ikharo Attah, indicated the event was organized to reinforce national efforts toward inclusive education and child development, aligning with President Bola Tinubu‘s Renewed Hope Agenda.

“Today is about celebrating the strength, creativity, and limitless potential of our children. Every Nigerian child deserves to feel seen, heard, encouraged, and supported to achieve their dreams regardless of background or circumstance,” Alausa said.

“Dera’s courage and passion reflect the resilience and brilliance that exist in millions of Nigerian children,” Alausa said. “Her voice continues to inspire important conversations around inclusion, empathy, and equal opportunity for every child,” he added.

The ministry concluded the event by stating its commitment to protect the rights of children through policies that promote inclusive education, safe learning spaces, and equal opportunities across the country.
