WARRI, Nigeria – The Nigeria Police Force and the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) have disrupted an examination malpractice syndicate operating during the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
Okay News reports that the syndicate was uncovered at the College of Education in Warri, Delta State. Investigations revealed that the group used unauthorized remote access to compromise candidates’ computer systems while the examination was actively in progress.
Following a digital forensic lead, security operatives arrested three suspects currently in custody. The Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Placid, stated that the operation has exposed other examination centers suspected of similar fraudulent activities, leading to the immediate withdrawal of results from the affected locations.
JAMB has announced that candidates impacted by the security breach will be rescheduled for a mop-up examination. The board emphasized that this administrative measure is necessary to preserve the integrity of the national testing process while full investigations continue.
Authorities have issued a stern warning against cyber-assisted fraud in the educational sector. The Nigeria Police Force maintains that it will continue to track and prosecute criminal networks attempting to undermine the credibility of the country’s examination systems.
