By Adamu Abubakar Isa

JOS, Nigeria – Troops of the Quick Response Force under Operation Enduring Peace have dismantled two illicit arms manufacturing factories in the Vom area of Jos South Local Government Area.

Okay News reports that the coordinated raid, conducted on Thursday, resulted in the arrest of five suspects allegedly caught while fabricating lethal weapons. The operation was the culmination of intensive intelligence gathering aimed at breaking the supply chain of unauthorized firearms in the region.

During the search of the facilities, security forces recovered a significant cache of weaponry, including nine fabricated AK-47 rifles, several skeletal rifle frames, and a locally made pistol. Industrial machinery used for weapon production, such as welding and drilling machines, was also seized at the sites.

According to Captain Chinonso Polycarp Oteh, the Media Information Officer for the Joint Task Force, the suspects and the recovered items are currently in custody for further investigation. He noted that the military is continuing covert operations to locate and remove any remaining illegal arms currently in circulation.

The successful bust is viewed as a major step in restoring stability to Plateau State. Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities as security agencies intensify efforts to safeguard the public.
