Nigeria’s Anti-Graft Agency Declares Ex-Minister Sadiya Umar Farouq Wanted Over Alleged Fraud Case

ABUJA, Nigeria — The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared Former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development of Nigeria, Sadiya Umar Farouq, wanted over her alleged involvement in a case of criminal conspiracy, abuse of office, and diversion of public funds.

The anti-graft agency in a notice signed by Dele Oyewale, Head of Media and Publicity at the EFCC, said Farouq, 52, an indigene of Zamfara State, northwestern Nigeria, is being sought in connection with ongoing investigations into financial crimes.

Okay News reports that the EFCC issued the notice alongside a photograph of the suspect, urging members of the public to assist with information that could lead to her arrest.

“The public is hereby notified that Sadiya Umar Farouq, whose photograph appears above is wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in an alleged case of Criminal Conspiracy, Abuse of Office, Diversion of Public Funds,” the notice said.

The commission said her last known address is EN 008, Okpo River, off Agulu Street, Maitama, Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

The agency called on anyone with relevant information on her whereabouts to contact its offices across the country or report to the nearest law enforcement agency.

“Anybody with useful information as to her whereabouts should please contact the Commission in its Ibadan, Uyo, Sokoto, Maiduguri, Benin, Makurdi, Kaduna, Ilorin, Enugu, Kano, Lagos, Gombe, Port Harcourt or Abuja offices or through 08093322644; its e-mail address: [email protected] or the nearest Police Station and other security agencies,” the statement added.
