IJEBU-ODE, Nigeria — Businessman and socialite Farooq Oreagba has once again captured the spotlight, delivering an unforgettable, high-fashion entrance at the 2026 Ojude Oba Festival on Friday, May 29.

Riding into the crowded arena on horseback, Oreagba effortlessly defended his viral title as the undisputed “King of Steeze.” Clad in a meticulously tailored traditional Yoruba ensemble and accessorized with his signature dark sunglasses, a pipe, and custom jewelry, his commanding presence drew thunderous cheers from the spectators and instantly dominated Nigerian social media spaces.
Okay News reports that the 2026 edition of the iconic festival, held at the Awujale Palace in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, carries deep historical weight. This year’s celebration is themed “Celebrating the Legacy of Oba Sikiru Adetona,” serving as a grand, emotional tribute to the late paramount ruler of Ijebuland who passed away in July last year after a monumental reign.
Oreagba first shot to international internet fame during the 2024 edition of the festival, where a single, perfectly timed photograph of him on horseback epitomized the modern Nigerian concept of “steeze”—a slang term denoting effortless style, poise, and ultimate cool. A cancer survivor and former managing director of the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company (NAHCO), Oreagba’s public appearances have come to symbolize resilience, vitality, and cultural pride.
The Ojude Oba Festival, which translates to “the king’s forecourt,” originated in the 19th century as a modest Islamic thanksgiving gathering. It has since evolved into one of Africa’s biggest cultural and fashion spectacles. The heartbeat of the festival remains the parade of the Regberegbe (traditional age-grade societies), who compete in flamboyant displays of coordinated luxury Aso-Oke outfits, wealth, and equestrian showmanship to pay homage to the royal lineage of Ijebuland.
