Oscars 2016: Leonardo DiCaprio Finally Wins Best Actor After Six Nominations

Leonardo-DiCaprioPopular American actor, Leonardo DiCaprio finally won Oscar’s ‘Best Actor’ Award after being nominated five other times in the past.

DiCaprio won the award for his work in the movie The Revenant.

Over the years, the 41-year-old actor has been nominated four times for acting and one time as a producer – Best Actor and Best Picture for The Wolf of Wall Street in 2014; Best Actor for Blood Diamond in 2007; Best Actor for The Aviator in 2005; and Best Supporting Actor for What’s Eating Gilbert Grape in 1994.

This first Oscar win has been a lifelong dream for DiCaprio.

“I grew up in east Los Angeles very close to the Hollywood studio system… so to have parents that allowed me to be a part of this– taking me to auditions—its been my dream since I was 4-years-old,” he said.

The other big winner of the night was Mad Max: Fury Road, which won six awards all in the technical categories.
