Yola, Nigeria: The Adamawa State Police Command announced at 9:34 a.m. WAT on Thursday, June 18, 2026, the arrest of a suspect in connection with the kidnapping of three children in the Yola North Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
Police spokesperson SP Suleiman Nguroje disclosed the arrest in a statement. Okay News reports that the apprehension followed a complaint filed at the State Intelligence Department by the victims’ father, Samaila Musa.
Nguroje said, “On June 16th, 2026, one Samaila Musa, male, of Hullere Gwalamba, Yola North local government area, reported at the State Intelligence Department that on 12th June, 2026, three of his sons, namely: Adamu Samaila Sultan, aged 24 years, Bilal Abdurrahman, aged 8 years, and Ya’u Sani Baba Iyali, aged 10 years, were kidnapped and whisked away to an unknown destination.”
The spokesperson said, “The complainant further reported that the kidnappers later established contact with the family and demanded ransom as a condition for the release of the victims,” adding that the Commissioner of Police, Kabir Hassan, directed operatives to deploy intelligence and technical resources to track down the perpetrators.
Nguroje said, “The swift action led to the subsequent arrest of one suspect,” noting that the individual is currently in protective custody.
The suspect is providing information to assist police in locating other members of the kidnapping syndicate and will be charged in court upon the conclusion of the ongoing investigation.
