PSC Orders Recruits to Proceed with Training Amid Ongoing Dispute

By Adamu Abubakar Isa

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has instructed the newly recruited constables to proceed with their training, despite the ongoing controversy with the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) over the recruitment process.

The PSC released a list of 10,000 successful applicants for constable and specialist cadre roles on June 4, 2024. However, the NPF rejected the list, citing corruption and irregularities in the recruitment process.

The dispute led to the sacking of PSC Chairman Solomon Arase by President Bola Tinubu, who appointed Hashimu Argungu, a retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police, as his replacement.

Despite the ongoing row, the PSC has directed the recruits to proceed with their training, in a move aimed at resolving the impasse. The development highlights the ongoing tensions between the PSC and NPF, with both sides standing firm on their positions.

The outcome of this dispute remains to be seen, as the two parties work to resolve their differences and move forward with the recruitment process.
