Qatar Airways Expands Africa Network, Launches Port Sudan Flights

DOHA, QatarQatar Airways has announced an expansion of its African operations with new route resumptions, additional frequencies, and the launch of flights to Port Sudan beginning in June and July 2026.

The airline said the expanded services are aimed at strengthening connectivity across the African continent and improving travel options through its hub at Hamad International Airport in Doha.

Okay News reports that Qatar Airways will resume four weekly flights to Seychelles from June 16, 2026, alongside the return of two weekly flights to Kigali, Rwanda, on the same date.

The carrier will also increase its Marrakesh, Morocco, service to daily flights from July 1, 2026.

Several African destinations are also scheduled for frequency increases as part of the expansion plan.

Flights to Alexandria, Egypt, will increase from three weekly services to up to seven, while services to Cairo will rise from 28 weekly flights to 35.

The airline will also increase flights to Cape Town, South Africa, from seven weekly flights to 10, while services to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, will rise from three weekly flights to seven.

Additional increases will affect the Lusaka-Harare route, which will move from five weekly flights to seven, and the Maputo-Durban service, which will increase from four weekly flights to seven.

Qatar Airways also confirmed the launch of three weekly flights to Port Sudan, Sudan, beginning on July 2, 2026.

The airline said the route is expected to improve connectivity for passengers travelling from markets across the Middle East and Southeast Asia, including Oman and Pakistan, through Doha.

The Port Sudan service will operate every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.

Flight QR1319 will depart Doha at 9:00 a.m. and arrive in Port Sudan at 11:00 a.m., while the return flight, QR1320, will depart Port Sudan at 12:25 p.m. and arrive in Doha at 4:20 p.m.

The airline said the expansion reflects growing demand for regional connectivity and supports broader trade and travel links between Africa and international markets.
