Retired Soldier Slumps & Die After Watching Nigeria Lose To South Africa

After watching the Nation’ s Cup qualifier between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and the Bafana Bafana of South Africa, a retired soldier of the Nigerian Army slumped and died on Saturday, 10th June .

The deceased identified as Joseph Oloruntoju , reportedly left his residence for the Owena Army Barracks in Akure to watch the match with friends.

He allegedly slumped after the South African team scored their second goal , and was rushed to a private hospital where he was confirmed dead.

The incident was confirmed by the Public Relations Officer of the 32 Artillery Brigade of the Nigeria Army, Akure , Captain Ojo Adelegan.

He revealed that the deceased blood pressure was found to be too high .

He said :

“ He is a retired sergeant. He has a shop at our mammy market ( in the barracks ) . It was discovered that his blood pressure was overshot. It was while our doctors were saving his life that he gave up the ghost,”
