LAGOS, Nigeria – Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu congratulated Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu on Monday, May 25, 2026, following his victory in the All Progressives Congress presidential primary ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Okay News reports that Sanwo-Olu issued a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, praising the party’s leadership for conducting a peaceful electoral exercise.
“I congratulate our leader and President, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, on his emergence as the presidential candidate of the APC for the 2027 election,” Sanwo-Olu said.
“This victory reflects the confidence and trust that party members across the country continue to place in his leadership and his commitment to building a better Nigeria,” he said.
The party’s National Working Committee adopted a direct primary method for the election held on Saturday, May 23, 2026.
The final results announced on Sunday, May 24, 2026, showed that Tinubu polled over 10 million votes to beat his closest challenger, Stanley Osifo.
