Singer Brymo Hails Tinubu Over New National Anthem

By Adamu Abubakar Isa

Nigerian singer, Brymo, has praised President Bola Tinubu for signing the National Anthem Bill 2024 into law, reinstating the old anthem, “Nigeria, We Hail Thee”. Brymo expressed his admiration for the president on his Instagram story, calling him his “G.O.A.T (Greatest of All Time) of all-time Nigerian president”.

Brymo argued that the reintroduced anthem has a deeper meaning than the previous one, “Arise, O Compatriots”. He particularly highlighted the lyrics “Nigeria, our motherland” and “In brotherhood, we stand”, emphasizing the importance of unity and brotherhood. He also jokingly referred to Nigeria as the “greatest cult on earth” and expressed his happiness with the change.

President Tinubu signed the bill into law on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, reinstating the old national anthem, which was replaced in 1978. The move has generated significant interest and debate among Nigerians, with some supporting the change and others opposing it.
