JOS, Nigeria — The Plateau State Police Command has confirmed the death of three security personnel following a security incident at the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, near Jos.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Alfred Alabo, the incident occurred in the early hours of the day and involved security personnel on duty at the institute.
Okay News reports that the Commissioner of Police in Plateau State, Bassey Ewah, has ordered the deployment of additional security operatives to the area. Police authorities said patrol activities have also been intensified to strengthen security and prevent any further breach.
The command stated that the situation has been brought under control and that normal activities have resumed within and around the institute. Authorities, however, did not immediately provide details on the circumstances that led to the deaths.
Police said investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the incident and identify those responsible. The command urged residents to remain calm, stay vigilant and continue their lawful activities without fear, assuring the public that security agencies are taking necessary measures to maintain peace and order in the area.
