Tinubu Dispatches Delegation to Oyo Over School Abductions

OGBOMOSO, Nigeria — Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu, dispatched a high-powered delegation to Oyo State on Sunday, May 31, 2026, following the abduction of 46 pupils and teachers.

Okay News reports that Nigeria’s Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, disclosed the deployment in a post on the social media platform X at 3:48 pm WAT on Sunday.

The delegation is led by Nigeria’s Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila. The team includes Nigeria’s National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, Nigeria’s Inspector-General of Police, Tunde Disu, Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, Christopher Musa, and Nigeria’s Minister of Power, Joseph Tegbe.

Armed men simultaneously raided the Baptist Nursery and Primary School and other locations in the villages of Esiele and Yawota. Both communities are located within the Oriire Local Government Area in the Ogbomoso axis.

Dare said, “A powerful Presidential Delegation just arrived Ogbomoso en route to the villages of Esiele and Yawota where armed men simultaneously raided Baptist Nursery and Primary schools seizing about 46 pupils and teachers.”

Tinubu directed security agencies to intensify rescue operations and ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice. National security agencies have not provided an official update on the whereabouts of the abductees while rescue efforts continue.
