Tiwa Savage Rules Out Signing New Artists, Plans to Launch Music School Instead

Nigerian singer-songwriter and actress Tiwa Savage has revealed that she has no intention of signing upcoming artists, citing the challenges of artist management as her primary reason.

Speaking in an interview recently, Savage explained that managing musicians can be incredibly stressful and that she does not feel equipped to handle the responsibility. She described artists as “a handful” and emphasized that the pressure of managing them can be overwhelming.

“Everyone always asks me, ‘When will you sign an artist?’ I don’t think I have the gift to sign another artist because artists are stressful. I could just be sleeping, and then I’ll wake up to find my artist trending for something else,” she said.

Instead of signing new talents, Savage is focusing on creating opportunities for aspiring musicians through alternative means. She is currently working on establishing a music school where individuals can develop their skills before potentially signing with a record label that can provide the necessary support.

“But I do have the gift to help, which is why I am trying to do the music school, where you can go and later sign to a label that can actually help you,” she added.

Savage’s decision reflects her desire to contribute to the growth of the music industry in a way that aligns with her strengths and experiences. By establishing a music school, she aims to provide a platform for aspiring artists to refine their craft and prepare for the demands of the industry.

This move comes as Savage continues to solidify her legacy as one of Nigeria’s most influential musicians. Her focus on mentorship and education highlights her commitment to nurturing the next generation of talent while avoiding the complexities of direct artist management.
