European football governing body, UEFA, on Wednesday announced that it had banned AC Milan from the Europa League next season for violating financial fair play rules.

“The club is excluded from participating in the next UEFA club competition for which it would otherwise qualify for in the next two (2) seasons,” UEFA said it statement.

The Italian club had already qualified for the Europa League from 2018-2019, so the ban will take effect from then.

UEFA, however said AC Milan can appeal the decision at the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
