ABAKALIKI — Minister of Works, David Umahi, has awarded a university scholarship to Obasi Victor Nnanna, the highest-scoring candidate from Ebonyi State in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
Okay News reports that the scholarship was announced after Umahi received news of the student’s exceptional performance from King David Gifted Academy, Abakaliki, a school he established in 2016 while serving as governor of Ebonyi State.
Reacting to the achievement, the minister expressed gratitude and praised the student’s success, saying, “I give God the glory. I offer scholarship to this child.” Nnanna, a member of the academy’s pioneer set, scored 356 in the 2026 UTME, making him the highest scorer in Ebonyi State and one of the top-performing candidates nationwide.
King David Gifted Academy was founded to promote academic excellence and nurture exceptional talents. Over the years, the institution has gained recognition for producing outstanding students and maintaining strong academic standards.
