Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has distributed approximately 10,000 bags of rice to Muslim residents of the Gwagwalada area council as a gesture of goodwill during the Ramadan season.

Representing the Minister at the distribution event, his Chief of Staff, Chidi Amadi, emphasized the significance of Ramadan as a period of deep religious observance for Muslims. He highlighted the season’s focus on fasting, prayer, and charitable giving, noting the importance of almsgiving in particular.

Amadi urged religious leaders and associations to ensure equitable distribution of the rice, emphasizing the need to support the less privileged during this time. “This is a time when we must identify with the needy in our society, those who truly require assistance. These 10,000 bags of rice will significantly aid many during this season,” he stated.

He also called upon corporate entities and non-governmental organizations to extend their support to religious communities during Ramadan.

Imam Lawal Mustapha, the Chief Imam of the FCT Minister’s Residence, expressed gratitude for Wike’s generosity, acknowledging it as an act of kindness. “Our religion teaches us that kindness deserves kindness. We respond with deep prayers for the Minister and express our respect for his good deeds,” he said. “This is what leaders should do: show compassion and understanding towards their people.”

AbdulRazzaq Surajo, Principal of the School for the Deaf, also thanked the Minister for his benevolence, noting that such acts of kindness bring joy during Ramadan, especially amidst rising living costs. “The Minister is making a positive impact in Abuja and touching lives,” Surajo stated. “We hope this government continues to guide the FCT and Nigeria towards greater progress.” He conveyed the School for the Deaf’s appreciation and wished everyone a joyous Eid celebration.
