By Adamu Abubakar Isa

MAIDUGURI, Nigeria — Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum has praised the Nigerian military for rescuing 360 people who were being held captive by terrorists in the Mandara Mountains area of the state.

Okay News reports that the victims, including men, women, and children, were freed during an operation carried out by troops of Operation HADIN KAI in one of the insurgents’ strongholds in southern Borno.

In a statement on Sunday issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Dauda Iliya, Zulum described the rescue as a major success in the fight against insurgency. He said the operation demonstrated the professionalism of the military and the effectiveness of intelligence-driven security operations.

The governor thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, military commanders, and the troops involved in the mission for their efforts and sacrifices. He said the rescue had brought renewed hope to affected communities and showed that security agencies remain committed to protecting citizens from terrorist groups.

Zulum also commended local residents for supporting security operations and providing useful information that contributed to the success of the mission. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to assisting the military and other security agencies with logistics and other support needed to sustain the fight against insurgency.

While welcoming the rescue of the 360 victims, the governor urged residents of Mussa in Askira Uba Local Government Area to remain hopeful as efforts continue to secure the release of schoolchildren still being held by abductors. He also encouraged citizens to remain vigilant and continue sharing credible information with security agencies.
