Twenty one ships are currently discharging petroleum products and other commodities at various ports in Lagos, the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) said on Friday.
The NPA said that 22 ships discharged various goods on May 31, 18 ships discharged on June 1, while 20 ships discharged on June 2.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that 22 ships are currently discharging wheat, bulk fertiliser, bulk pet coke, bulk gas, Low Pure Fuel Oil, (LPFO), general cargoes, petrol, sugar, bulk gypsum and containers.
NPA said that 12 ships laden with petrol have arrived at Lagos ports waiting to discharge at Tin -Can and Apapa ports.
The NPA said two other ships waiting to berth would discharge aviation fuel and crude palm olein.
It noted that 36 other ships containing petroleum products, food items and other goods were being expected at the ports from June 3 to June 16.
NPA explained that other expected ships were coming with general cargoes, bulk salt, bulk sugar, buck wheat, frozen fish, crude palm olein, bulk fertiliser, base oil and diesel.
Other items the ships ferried into the country are petrol, bulk gypsum, steel product, bulk pet coke, ethanol, steel product, bulk charcoal and containers.
